In order to create a new situation of regional cooperation and actively promote the development of the company, from March 6 to 9, 2019, Mr. Li Xiucheng, the general manager of our company, was invited to Cambodia for business investigation and official exchanges.

 

Cambodia is a friendly neighbor and important partner of China. It is an important partner for China to carry out the “Belt and Road” and international capacity cooperation. Currently, China and Cambodia are at different stages of development, with strong economic complementarities, a high degree of development strategy, and broad prospects for cooperation. The construction of the “Belt and Road” has closely linked China and Cambodia. In the future, the two countries would have great potential for cooperation in the construction of major infrastructure such as airports, harbors, highways, hydropower stations, power transmission and transformation networks, information and communication, and water conservancy.

 

During his trip, general manager Mr. Li had in-depth communication with Mr. Youn Heng, Director of Department of Investment Project Evaluation and Incentives of Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). Mr.Youn Heng highly appreciated China's “One Belt, One Road” policy and pointed out that “One Belt, One Road” has brought new opportunities to Cambodia's economic development and reached a deep consensus on bilateral cooperation.

 

In addition, General Manager Li Xiucheng went to Kampot and Sihanoukville Province and conducted field visit and investigation. Mr. Yun Min, the stakeholder of Kampot Province, introduced the general information of Kampot Province and exchanged views with Mr. Li. During the period, the governor of Kampot Province gave a detailed introduction to the province's general situation. The area covers an area of 4,800 square kilometers and has a population of about 670,000. The main industries are the cultivation and export of agricultural products such as bananas and durians. At this stage, the development of the four major ports and the tourism industry is rapidly driving the economic rise of the province, and the next phase of economic planning is the development of real estate. At present, a large number of developers are buying or renting land. The new area is under construction and development, and regional infrastructure projects will be completed within 2-3 years. By then, the popularity and development of real estate will be greatly increased.

 

Sihanoukville Province is one of the first group of eight oversea economic cooperation areas approved by Chinese Ministry of Commerce. President Xi proposed in the signed article that the well-developing Sihanoukville Province special economic zone is the model of pragmatic cooperation between China and Cambodia.

 

The Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone is one of the eight cooperation zones that won the tender of the first batch of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones of the Ministry of Commerce of China in 2006. It is an economic and trade cooperation zone jointly established by Chinese and Cambodian enterprises. In 2016, President Xi Jinping pointed out in his signed article that "the booming Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone is a model for pragmatic cooperation between China and Cambodia." At the same time, "continuing the implementation of the cooperation project such as the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone" was written into the "Joint Statement" of China and Cambodia. According to Mr. Yun Min, Governor of Sihanouk Province, the Westport Special Zone has carried out project construction based on Cambodia's national conditions and actual infrastructures states, which not only importedd the “one-step” administrative service window composed of the Cambodian Development Council, the Ministry of Commerce, the Customs, the Labor Bureau, the Sihanouk Provincial Government, but also introduced customs clearance companies, shipping companies and Cambodian Bank of Canada to provide comprehensive and efficient services for enterprises entering the zone. During the talks, Governor YUN MIN introduced the preferential policies of Xigang Special Zone. The promotion of preferential policies has attracted new economic growth, such as real estate, construction industry and tourism. In 2018, the economic contribution rate of Xigang to Sihanoukville exceeded 50%, and the local employment of 17,000 people was sachieved. The Xigang Special Zone is also changing the face of Sihanoukville with huge economic benefits.

 

Through the field investigation, General Manager Li Xiucheng learned about ports, trade, real estate and other related industries, and had a more direct understanding of Cambodia's current industrial status and future economic development trendss. During the inspection, General Manager Li Xiucheng also visited the scenic spots in Phnom Penh, Handan, Westport and other places, felt the friendship of the Cambodian people, and experienced the unique  folk customs of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

 

So far, the Cambodian study and exchange of Mr. Li has been successfully completed, through which general manager Li Xiucheng visited Cambodia and discussed business with Cambodian leaders. The trip not only laid a solid foundation for future regional cooperation, but also discovered more opportunities for international exchanges and future development to the company.
